Butter Bowl Peony

Butter Bowl is one of those peonies that earns its place in the field. The flowers are distinctive, cheerful, and easy to recognize, with a soft blush-to-creamy outer form surrounding a rich buttery-yellow center. It has a look that is very different from the standard double pink or white peony, which makes it especially valuable for mixed bouquets and floral design.

At Mountain Flower Farm, Butter Bowl has also impressed us with its productivity. Established plants can be exceptionally prolific, often producing 60–80 blooms per plant under our growing conditions. That combination of unusual color, strong flower production, and excellent garden presence makes it a favorite for both growers and serious peony collectors.

For cut-flower growers, Butter Bowl offers something genuinely different: a productive plant with a distinctive color palette that can add warmth and texture to spring wedding work, market bouquets, and specialty floral designs.

Mountain Flower Farm has grown peonies in Vermont for more than 25 years. Our roots are carefully selected and graded for strong establishment and long-term performance.
