'Dr. Alexander Fleming' - 30 Roots
"The good doctor" is a workhorse on our flower farm. Part of a core group of heavy producers that provide the backbone of our cut flower production. This is an heirloom French peony, bred as a cross between ‘Bunker Hill’ x ‘Sarah Bernhardt’. Like its parent varieties, a very heavy producer with consistently high yields. Tough buds hold well in cold storage.
‘Dr. Alexander Fleming’ is sold in massive quantities at the Dutch flower auctions (for good reason!), and they make their way from there, to markets worldwide. The stylish, warm, salmon pink double blooms are very sweetly fragrant. The medium late blooming plant is 36" tall and a very vigorous cultivar, that produces many side buds for a long bloom season. Flowers are large, heavy, and thick. When supported in the home garden, they can be counted on to provide an amazing display of color!
