Red Charm - 3/5 eye roots
'Red Charm' is a gold medal winner from the American Peony Society. This is a good option for growers in the heat and humidity of the Southern US. Along with Coral Charm, Red Charm will produce flowers with little to no below freezing temps. Quite a rare trait!
The large, fragrant double flowers are dramatic. lustrous and elegant. The deep ruby-red color is simultaneously bright and commanding. The flowers are very large, and can reach up to 8" across. The densely ruffled centers are surrounded by large, rounded guard petals. 'Red Charm' flowers are strong and persistent, and are held quite upright on thick, stiff stems.
This is one of the earliest peony to flower, and for most growers will start the bloom season. The fragrance is reminiscent of old-fashioned roses. It also makes a superb cut-flower, best picked when in tight bud!
Growers bringing a variety of peony blooms to market can count on Red Charm to be one of the first to sell out.
