This an excellent example of an " ITOH " peony, a group of hybrid blooms that have parents from both lactiflora peony and tree peony. The stems are not fully woody, but are quite stiff and strong providing plants with an excellent landscape habit. They can be cut back in fall, leaving the bottom 6" of stems intact.

Developed by Irene Tolomeo and registered in 1999, this mid-sized perennial showcases apricot-hued blooms that mature to a soft yellow, each accented with bright red flares at the base of the petals. The flowers, averaging 16 petals, are consistently smooth and semi-double in form, providing a delightful visual transition as they age.
